In order for a will and testament to be valid in Italy it must be entirely handwritten, dated and signed by the person who is the testator. But be careful! Although you make a holographic will and testament and appoint the executor according to the italian law, your heirs/closest family members can decide not to respect your testamentary wishes. If this happens, the executor appointed by you will have no choice but to resort to legal action to ensure the implementation of your testamentary provisions.
Through the active involvement of the people closest to you (e.g.: executors, friends, relatives, acquaintances), you will have a greater chance for your testamentary wishes to be brought to the attention of your heirs/closest family members and, therefore, be heard and respected.
